Faithless return: ‘Forever Free’ marks first release in 5 years

Faithless have released “Forever Free”, their first new music in five years. The opening single from their upcoming four‑part album Champion Sound, is due in full this September. The atmospheric track features what is believed to be the final recorded vocal from late frontman Maxi Jazz, with a spoken‑word verse layered over choral and electronic textures.

This marks the band’s first release since their 2020 album All Blessed and comes following Maxi Jazz’s passing in December 2022. “Forever Free” follows earlier tribute tracks “Find A Way” and “I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)”, as part of a phased rollout of the eight‑track Champion Sound.

The album will include collaborations with artists such as Suli Breaks, Bebe Rexha, Anthony Szmierek and others. Founding members Sister Bliss and Rollo described the project as a way of bringing new people into Faithless, continuing the band’s collaborative tradition while honouring Maxi’s legacy.

Maxi Jazz’s closing words on the track — “When time come / Beneath the fearsome sun / My daughter my son / Be as completely you / As you can be” — are highlighted by the group as both a farewell and a statement of intent for the new material.
