Drumsheds: The new 15k capacity London venue opening this September 🏭
It’s only been a couple of months since we said our goodbyes to Printworks (at least for now), but Broadwick Live has got us excited with the announcement of a new venue for London, launching this September.
The event and production company behind the iconic venue in Canada Water and other staples such as Manchester’s Depot Mayfield have clearly been busy rustling up something new to keep us busy until a potential Printworks return in 2026.
Think bigger than Alexandra Palace (10k capacity) and even bigger than Wembley Arena (12.5K capacity). Covering 608,000 sq ft of warehouse, they’ll be launching a new 15k capacity venue on the site of the old Ikea in Tottenham.
It will also complement Broadwick’s other venues in the capital such Silverworks Island – the 20k capacity outdoor events space next to the Excel – and The Beams, a smaller but equally impressive space just down the road near London City Airport.
Not to be mistaken with the 2019 venue of the similar name in Tottenham (which was much smaller), Drumsheds is set to bring all the same high production values as Printworks, against a backdrop of old lift shafts, loading bays, sprawling floors and machinery within this vast space.
The company’s director of strategy, Simeon Aldred, said: “We want Drumsheds, like all the spaces we create, to be new centres of cultural gravity that provide the basis for human connection. A connection that people crave now more than ever.”
In terms of transport and getting there, it looks like the venue can be easily accessed from Central London by getting the Victoria Line (Tube, which also runs overnight at weekends) to Tottenham Hale , then jumping on National Rail (Greater Anglia) for two stops to Meridian Water. It’s then just a 2 minute walk from there.
It’s not clear yet whether the Greater Anglia part of the journey will run overnight to make the connection at Tottenham Hale (we can’t imagine everyone jumping on the nightbus :/) , but there’s plenty of time for the Broadwick Live team to work this out. Either way, we can’t wait to visit in September!
