The Sphere Abu Dhabi: Location for second venue announced

Plans to bring the Las Vegas-style illuminated dome, known as The Sphere, to London were scrapped in 2023. After nearly a year of buzz across various music and events blogs, including ours, the massive, £1.8 billion venue has now found a new home in Abu Dhabi.

The Las Vegas Sphere, renowned for its immersive LED screen that wraps around half the audience, has been a huge success, hosting sold-out shows and featuring top artists and extended line-ups to include:

▪️DEC 27th – Dixon & Mike Dean

▪️DEC 28th – Amelie Lens & Chris Avantgarde B2B Rebuke

▪️DEC 29th – Charlotte De Witte & Cassian B2B Kevin De Vries

▪️Dec 30th – Rampa & Parisi

▪️DEC 31st – Adriatique & Massano

▪️JAN 1st- TIESTO & Argy

▪️JAN 10th- Sebastian Ingrosso & Script

▪️JAN 11th – Camelphat & Layton Giordani

Now, Sphere Entertainment has teamed up with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi to bring this groundbreaking venue to the Middle East. While details on the exact location and opening date for the 20,000-capacity Sphere in Abu Dhabi remain under wraps, it’s set to match, if not surpass, the size and spectacle of its Las Vegas counterpart.

James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, told Time Out, “The vision for Sphere has always included a global network of venues, and today’s announcement is a significant milestone toward that goal. Sphere is redefining live entertainment and extending the reach of its transformative impact. We are proud to collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi to develop Sphere in their city.”

Abu Dhabi’s investment in the Sphere aligns with its larger strategy to position itself as a premier destination for entertainment and relaxation, boosting its economy through world-class events. Just look at the large-scale sporting events the country has already hosted—Abu Dhabi is pouring significant resources into becoming a key player in the global events arena.
