The Best of British Awards: Becky Hill, Celementine Douglas, Or:la & more named winners
The DJ Mag Best of British Awards 2024 lit up The Steel Yard in London last night, celebrating the finest talents in UK electronic music.
House music took centre stage, with some of the genre’s brightest stars and rising talents proving why the UK remains a global dance music powerhouse.
Joy Orbison was crowned Best DJ, a well-deserved recognition for his pioneering influence on the UK’s electronic music scene. Known for blending house, garage and breakbeat with innovative flair, his genre-defying sets have become iconic.
Becky Hill was crowned Best MC/Vocalist, thanks to her powerhouse vocals and chart-topping hits like Side Effects with Lewis Thompson and Disconnect with Chase & Status. Her anthems have dominated festivals and radio airwaves, cementing her place as one of the UK’s top vocalists.
Clementine Douglas, a rising star frequently heard on Electric, was named Breakthrough MC/Vocalist. Her unforgettable voice powers hits like Asking by Sonny Fodera & MK and Happier by The Blessed Madonna, solidifying her reputation as one of the most exciting voices in house music.
On the production front, Or:la claimed the Best Producer award for her cutting-edge sound and genre-blurring tracks. Meanwhile, Arthi, winner of Breakthrough DJ, wowed house music lovers with her energetic and versatile sets, making her one to watch in 2024.
PAWSA was also honoured with the Best Producer award. He has been instrumental in shaping the UK’s house music scene. His innovative productions and distinctive tech-house style have earned him widespread acclaim, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in electronic music.
It was a night of passion, talent, and boundary-pushing creativity, proving the future of UK house music has never been brighter.
