Always losing your mates at festivals? Meet iPhone’s new super-charged finder feature 📍
It’s that time of year again.
Nope, not the feeling that the end of summer is in sight, but the annual update from Apple HQ (sorry Android users).
Last week during their “Wonderlust” keynote in Cupertino, several product updates were announced, including the latest refresh to the iPhone.
Now – we’ll be honest.
It feels like we’re getting to a time where these annual incrementations aren’t really breaking that much ground. Yes – the main camera is better and it’s finally got the USB C connector we’ve been waiting for – but this time we’re actually a bit more excited about the update to the “Find My: app.
With a new Ultra Wideband chip, the iPhone 15 will be able to locate friends or other accessories from up to 3x the distance.
Perfect for the festival, club or other crowded space such as train stations and airports – you’ll now be able to locate your mates in a snap with arrow-based navigation, even when service is low or non-existent.
Granted, you’ll both need to be using the latest handset to take advantage of this feature – but it’s something we can certainly see ourselves using.
Is it enough to encourage an upgrade right now? Probably not, but it’s definitely nice to have once we do get around to upgrading.
