The UK Industry Report: £2.4 billion contribution and cultural impact highlighted in latest NTIA update
The 2025 UK Electronic Music Industry Report, released by the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) in collaboration with Audience Strategies and supported by Amazon Music, reveals that the electronic music sector contributed £2.4 billion to the UK economy in 2024.
This figure encompasses revenues from recorded music, publishing, and live events, including concerts and festivals. Despite this substantial economic input, the report notes that electronic music remains under-represented in cultural policy discussions.
The report highlights the genre’s growing influence, with 29% of artists at UK festivals in 2024 being electronic acts—the highest representation among all genres. Additionally, 80% of the top 30 global artists have been significantly influenced by electronic music. However, challenges persist, such as a decline in the number of nightclubs from 875 in 2023 to 851 in 2024, and a 16% drop in nightclub revenue to £1.232 billion.
A key focus of the report is the importance of education in sustaining the industry’s growth. Addressing gaps in the talent pipeline is essential for fostering the next generation of artists and industry professionals. The NTIA urges the government to recognize electronic music’s cultural and economic significance and to provide appropriate support mechanisms. The report also notes a 14% increase in festival attendance, with over a million attendees at 310 UK festivals featuring electronic music in 2024. This surge contributed to festival revenues reaching £646.2 million. Despite these positive trends, 72 independent festivals were cancelled, postponed, or closed in 2024, indicating ongoing challenges within the sector.
