DJ Mag Top 100 DJs: who will take top spot? 🥇

One of the most renowned polls in dance music returns this week to announce its 2023 winner. DJ Mag’s hotly contested competition sees DJs from around the world campaigning for votes to be crowned the No. 1 DJ in the world, with the award ceremony for the Top 100 DJs just around the corner.

Voting for the somewhat-controversial competition has been running for some time as some of the biggest names in electronic music look to dethrone Martin Garrix from the top of the podium. With the votes closed, the official awards ceremony will kick off at 6pm GMT / 2pm ET on Wednesday 15th November on the DJ Mag YouTube channel. Hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Arielle Free live from The Standard, Ibiza, the awards show will see this year’s Top 100 DJs announced alongside featured DJ performances from across four continents all from unique locations.

Controversy has followed the coveted Top 100 in recent years, with the inclusion of small or unknown names prompting questions around the legitimacy and potential financial bias of the rankings. Despite this, strong positioning on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll can be detrimental to some artists’ touring schedules, with promoters often booking artists within the Top 100 in a bid to aid ticket sales. Whilst the Top 100 is certainly no defined metric of who is the “best DJ” – with the term holding vast ambiguity as to what is actually being quantified when people vote – it has held a unique and prestigious place within dance music folklore since its inception in 1991.

This year sees Garrix bidding for his 5th title with likely-stiff competition from the likes of David Guetta, ALOK, and the only current five time winner: fellow countryman Armin van Buuren. Tune in at 6pm GMT this Wednesday to find out who is crowned the winner on the DJ Mag YouTube.
